Dagger’s creative department is a close-knit team of deeply driven, passionate, and innovative thinkers, makers, and doers. We’re looking for another stellar addition to our award-winning team to help us craft and cultivate ideas that will strengthen our portfolio, win more awards, and help us achieve our goals as the most compelling agency Atlanta has ever seen.
As Graphic Designer, you support the creative team through the design of visual assets for print and digital media, as well as conceptual thinking and the creation of large scale visual campaigns and individual assets, alike.
You will use design and prototyping programs to create new designs based on art direction prototypes provided by leaders within the creative team. You may also be required to provide your own extensions of concepts into art directions of your own making, with oversight and help from other team members.
You’ll use a keen eye for detail and uninterruptible focus to maintain consistency in file organization, asset cohesion, brief alignment, pixel precision, and file management to ensure your team’s files are seamlessly prepared for print and development vendors as well as archiving to preserve Dagger’s intellectual property in an organized and systematic fashion.
In some instances, you will present your own work in public forum. Whether on the phone, on location in a client’s office, or internally-only, you are expected to hone your public speaking and creative presentation skills continually throughout your tenure in this role.
You are accountable for:
Creating designs from existing art direction that reflect the approved brief, visual direction, and required formats, sizes, and production requirements of creative projects. Your work must seamlessly integrate with and/or elevate the creative vision initially set forth by art or creative directors.
Taking pride and ownership of your work, accepting accountability for your output. This includes being a great communicator, understanding and acting upon creative briefs and existing creative direction, and maintaining the visual and technical integrity of Dagger’s creative vision for client and internal work.
Understanding and maintaining the mindset that some projects will require a direct translation of provided art direction, while some (when explicitly directed as such) will provide room for creative interpretation. You are accountable for knowing which is which and technically expressing the work in either avenue with precision and enthusiasm.
Like all Dagger employees, Graphic Designers are accountable for having a proactive attitude and approach to your growth and personal development. An insatiable appetite for learning and improving is a must, as well as a willingness to advocate for and participate in your own professional and personal growth, meeting challenging situations and uncomfortable conversations with empathy and radical candor.
You are capable of:
Asking thoughtful questions -- and lots of them!
Doing research to uncover new and interesting insights that inspire creative work and help keep your work on the edge of trends and innovations in the market.
Working with a variety of creative team members to realize their creative visions for client and internal work, alike.
Communicating clearly with other members of the team including art directors, designers, project managers, executive leadership, etc.
Developing designs that strategically support a concept, whether by directly translating an art director’s vision into campaign assets, or adding your own creative insight to better translate more flexible concepts into actuality.
Offering, accepting, understanding and acting upon feedback and criticism. This includes the ability to stand behind and explain your work to team members, and pulling together to make the work better.
Meeting and communicating about project milestones and deadlines. You must communicate clearly with your client teams to ensure you can accurately estimate your time investment, as well as stay within the time budgeted for your work. Expert time, task, and stress management is a must.
Taking accountability and responsibility for advancing the clientele, portfolio samples, conceptual chops and skill offerings of our agency in a continual state of healthy tension.
