We’re on a quest to find an entrepreneurial mover and shaker who can help us forge a new path for our business. We’re looking for someone who will help push engaging, diverse content to an audience of people who understand culture (not necessarily workplace culture). As the first-ever Editor here, you will play a crucial role to the expansion of a new discipline at Dagger. Because this position is both an editor and a liaison, this position requires a range of skills, including:

  • Strong editing ability and knowledge of AP style

  • Highly organized with a strong project management bend

  • A proven knack to manage modern, shareable video content

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Proven understanding SEO

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Generate story ideas, including takes on pop culture
  • Create and manage editorial content calendar

  • Work closely with internal team members and external vendors, e.g. ideate with internal teams to develop content programs

  • Assign & edit content stories (frequency to be determined at a later date and subject to change)

  • Edit the work of junior writers and mentor their growth

  • Work closely with Dagger team members to develop the voice of the brand as well as constantly challenge the team to conceive and execute smart and shareable content for millennial-minded readers/viewers

  • Monitor daily traffic goals and make quick, real-time pivots to help us hit monthly goals as well as analyze content performance and provide actionable reporting and optimization recommendations

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or a related field

  • 4 or more years of editorial experience at a digital publisher

  • Demonstrated experience managing projects from conception to completion

  • Excellent written skills, with strict attention to spelling, punctuation, and grammar

  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and extremely organized

  • A healthy addiction to digital trends and pop culture

  • Experience working with social media, analytics and SEO strategies
