About Role

Dagger’s strategy and insights department expertly steers clients through the convergence of research, analytics, planning and experience. The team is comprised of researchers, strategists and analysts, who work closely alongside our media arm, and is adept at defining the right message within the right channels with the right multipliers for maximum impact.

The Senior Director of Strategy & Insights will lead a team responsible for deriving strong consumer insights, defining strategic approaches, stewarding execution of strategies on behalf of clients, and optimizing campaigns based upon performance insights. Reporting directly into the CXO, this role will interface regularly with Dagger leadership, with time split against practitioning for key clients, business development, team mentorship, and thought leadership.

You are accountable for:

  • Stewarding the vision for the strategy team and growth opportunities to build the team

  • Operationalizing and systematizing team processes to ensure consistently strong outputs

  • Identifying, onboarding and ensuring the best use of strategic tools to equip the team

  • Providing leadership and oversight for all strategy efforts, including but not limited to research, brand strategy, content strategy, influencer strategy, and analytics

  • Developing meaningful and productive senior client relationships to ensure strategic recommendations exceed expectations

  • Assessing market and competitive landscapes to identify insights and white space opportunities for brands

  • Developing and reviewing briefing documents that inspire and support creative and media decisions

  • Developing and presenting integrated strategic recommendations, with an emphasis on brand and content recommendations across social media, websites, email, influencers, traditional media and more

  • Using data to strengthen strategic recommendations, which includes a proficiency up-leveling the interpretation of qualitative and quantitative data

  • Elevating Dagger’s perception as a thought leader with distinctive perspectives on the industry and culture

  • Stewarding (proactive) thought leadership and ideas for up-leveling client work, including development of formal agency POVs

  • Continually looking outside of the 'client ask' for growth opportunities tied to insights and data

  • Leading strategic recommendations for new business pitches in accelerated timeframes with little background information

  • Attending live pitch presentations and acting as an authority within the opportunity

You are capable of:

  • Applying strategic principles across industries / sectors within B2B and B2C verticals

  • Demonstrating a high fluency in how owned / earned / paid media intersect

  • Balancing big-picture ideas with digging in to bring those ideas to life tactically

  • Developing new constructs which visually present strategic concepts within easy-to-understand frameworks

  • Leading client meetings / presentations with VP & C-level leaders in an organization

  • Defending strategic recommendations with a high degree of rigor and professionalism

  • Demonstrating sound judgment and discretion for conflict resolution

  • Applying a high attention to detail while juggling multiple priorities at once

  • Coaching (and challenging) junior team members to propel their career growth

  • Developing strong interdepartmental working relationships that move ideas from theory to reality

  • Cross-educating the agency on macro cultural trends and burgeoning areas of strategy

  • Thinking entrepreneurially and contributing positively to Dagger’s culture

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, both to clients and internally
